Entrepreneurship Journey Committee

Objective: Develop an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Diversifying the regional economy will require a multi-pronged approach, including retaining and expanding existing regional employers, attracting high-value employers to the area, and facilitating startup and entrepreneurial growth. The latter is the focus of the Entrepreneurship Journey Committee, which seeks to create an environment that fosters dynamic growth opportunities for startups.

What We Are Working On:

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences founded in 1984 and includes the slogan "Ideas Worth Spreading.” The annual conference series began in 1984 and multiple spinoffs such as TEDx have since occurred.

Southeast Minnesota is home to a number of new companies each year, especially in the medical and technology fields. The Entrepreneurship Committee leadership announced a Regional Angel Fund in early 2017..

It is realized that an ecosystem cannot be created without entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs are not attracted to communities without an ecosystem.

The 3rd annual Recognizing Awarding Valuing Entrepreneurs or R.A.V.E. was held November 18, 2016. This year honored three businesses for their entrepreneurial spirit and success, recognized local brothers for a Lifetime Achievement Award and the RAVE Warrior Award.
