Shards in individual glasses: Kaufland calls sour cherries back
The Kaufland food retail chain is calling back sour cherries. According to the company, it cannot be ruled out that there are fragments in individual glasses that could cause injuries when consumed.

Recall for sour cherries in a glass
The department store chain Kaufland announces on its website that "for reasons of preventive consumer protection" it calls sour cherries back in the glass. Accordingly, the recall affects the product K-Classic sour cherries, pitted, sugared, filling quantity: 680 g, drained weight: 350 g, EAN 4300175162883 with the best-before date / batch: 07/04/2019 ES221 and the supplier number: LFN: 35291.

Shards in individual glasses possible
"It cannot be completely ruled out that there are pieces of broken glass in individual glasses of the product mentioned, which can lead to injuries when consumed," the company writes.

According to the information, the best-before date is printed on the edge of the lid and the LFN number is on the label below the nutritional table.

Kaufland had already taken the affected goods out of sale. The product can also be returned without presentation of the receipt against reimbursement of the purchase price.

Broken glass can lead to serious injuries
Food that could contain broken glass or broken glass should in principle no longer be consumed. They can cause serious injuries to the mouth and throat or even internal injuries.

In food production, errors in the manufacturing processes can lead to contamination or foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues.

A major recall campaign was initiated in Bavaria last spring after glass fragments up to two centimeters long had been found in pork. (ad)
