Wooden parts in ice: recall campaign for "Mini Choc Classic" started
DMK Eis GmbH is recalling its “Mini Choc Classic” product from the “Gut & Günstig” brand. According to the company, consumers would have found wooden-style pieces in the ice. Buyers can also return empty packaging of the affected products.
Consumers found pieces of wooden handles in the ice
DMK Eis GmbH is calling the product "Mini Choc Classic, 12 pieces" (600 ml pack) with the designation "Good & Favorable" "for reasons of preventive consumer protection". In a notification, the manufacturer announced that the product was predominant nationwide, except in the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony and Bavaria was sold in Marktkauf and EDEKA stores.
Reimbursement also without receipt
As a precaution, the goods were taken out of sale. Other articles and other best-before dates are not affected. Customers who have bought the corresponding product can return the empty packaging to their shops without reimbursement of the purchase price. DMK Eis GmbH said that they regretted the incident and apologized to all customers for the inconvenience. A hotline is available for consumer inquiries at 0251 2656 7371.
Contamination in food
Due to errors in the manufacturing processes, contamination or foreign bodies in food can occur again and again. For example, a huge recall campaign was launched in 55 countries in February after plastic particles were found in Mars candy bars. The Mars company had recalled various milk drinks about two years earlier because of possible bacterial contamination. According to press reports, the bacteria were found in the UK, according to company reports, after consumers complained of nausea and diarrhea. Contamination with health-threatening germs and foreign bodies are common reasons for food recalls. (ad)
