Researchers at the Integrative Cardiovascular and Metabolic Physiology Laboratory concluded that cold tea may be more effective in losing weight.

Three degrees cold or 55 degrees warm

The test subjects drank 500 ml of the unsweetened caffeine-containing tea on two different days. This had either a temperature of 3 ° C or 55 ° C and had to be drunk within five minutes.

After taking the tea, various variables were continuously measured for 90 minutes: blood pressure, heart rate, the amount of blood pumped by the heart, and oxygen consumption and fat oxidation.

These data were compared to the values ​​measured half an hour before taking the tea.

Reduction of the metabolic load on the heart

According to the study's authors, Claire Maufrais, Delphine Sarafian, and Prof. Abdul Dulloo and Prof. Jean-Pierre Montani, energy consumption when drinking cold tea (+ 8.3%) increased twice as much as when drinking warm tea ( + 3.7%).

The cold tea also favored fat oxidation and reduced the metabolic load on the heart.

If this observation is confirmed after repeated use of tea, cold tea would be proven to be useful for weight control.
