Dangerous germ in peeling mask
The drugstore chain dm is recalling the article "alverde naturschön Peelingmaske 100 ml". According to the company, only goods with the best before dates (best before dates) 09/2019 and 10/2019 are affected. The best before date is easily recognizable on the crucible label. "Reason for the warning and the recall: In the products of the mentioned best before dates it cannot be ruled out that the germ Pseudomonas aeruginosa is occasionally contained," says a message.
Customers are urged not to use the affected product and to return it to the dm stores unopened or already opened. The purchase price will be refunded.
As dm writes, "For example, existing skin injuries can lead to an infection with this germ in individual cases."
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a so-called hospital germ.
Resistant to antibiotics
The bacterium “is one of the most common causes of nosocomial pneumonia in ventilation, wound and urinary tract infections worldwide; the bacteria can also trigger a bloodstream infection (sepsis), ”writes the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
"Most P. aeruginosa strains are naturally resistant to a variety of antibiotics," said the experts.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is also included in a World Health Organization (WHO) list of the “12 families of bacteria that pose the greatest threat to human health”.
Resistance to carbapenems had occurred with these germs. These are antibiotics that are usually only used when other antibiotics do not work. (ad)
