Health insurance abroad

A foreign health insurance or travel health insurance is urgently required when traveling to countries outside the EU that have not closed a social budget with Germany. This is because statutory health insurance only covers the costs of an accident or illness within the EU and in countries with which a social security agreement has been concluded. Also, only a certain standard rate of costs is borne for treatments, which in individual cases can be significantly lower than is calculated for the services in the respective country. In the event of an emergency, return transport can also be ensured via the international health insurance. (fp)
